Prague, 15 March 2018 – Interest in historical vehicles and classic cars is growing all over the world and more than one car manufacturer has recently announced its plan to sell factory-refurbished classic cars. Mercedes-Benz of Germany, for instance, has been selling these cars for some time now under the All Time Stars brand. Classic cars are now to be offered to Czech customers by Mototechna Classic from the AURES Holdings group, the operator of the AAA AUTO car centre network.
It doesn’t take millions to invest in collectable or vintage cars; sometimes just a few tens of thousands is enough to purchase an interesting model with the potential to increase in value. It always depends on the preferences of the individual customer. “Owning a vintage car is primarily a hobby and in most cases investment is a secondary factor. However, the advantage of investing in vintage cars is that you can enjoy owning the car, which is something that cannot be said about shares, for instance,” remarks Petr Vaněček, Chief Operating Officer of the AAA AUTO car centre network, to which the new Mototechna Classic brand belongs.
The aim of Mototechna Classic is to offer the general public an easy way to purchase iconic models, the car of their dreams or even a relatively ordinary vehicle that perhaps evokes nostalgic memories of their youth. “We are constantly hearing about electromobility, autonomous control and other conveniences. However, these do not suit some motorists, and some people are not into the technology and prefer to return to the things they’re accustomed to. Mototechna Classic offers them this kind of alternative,” adds Stanislav Gálik from the AuresLab innovation laboratory, which is behind the launch of the new brand.

In the future, Mototechna Classic should be offering between 30 and 50 vehicles of various brands, split up into four basic categories. “At the top of the range there are prestigious car models worth over a million crowns. The second category comprises American classics such as the Ford Mustang or Chevrolet Corvette, while the third includes classic cars from the communist era. The last group is made up of cars that have not yet reached vintage age, but are well on the way to achieving that status due to their exceptional condition, history or amazingly low mileage,” explains AAA AUTO Regional Purchasing Manager Jindřich Topol. At its launch, the brand is offering 15 cars. The biggest attractions are two Ferrari Testarossas, one of which only has 9,000 km on the clock and costs CZK 4,000,000 or a Ferrari 550 Maranello for CZK 3,350,000. One car on the way is a 1949 Jaguar XK 120 Alloy Roadster with an expected price of around CZK 8,000,000. American classics include a 1972 Ford Ranchero for CZK 450,000 and a 1967 Ford Thunderbird for the same price. The communist-era cars include two Škoda 100s, a Lada VAZ 2101 and a Škoda Favorit with a mileage of just 22,666 km.
Mototechna Classic vehicles are currently on sale through the www.mototechna.cz/classic website. A separate section has been devoted to these vehicles at the Prague branch of AAA AUTO, where “classics” are on display, except for those whose collector or investment value means that they are kept inside the showroom.
